Financial Freedom and Empowerment - Of major
consequence to the furtherance and expansion of the
kingdom of God or the lack thereof, is the financial health
and strength of a church’s membership. Whether we admit
it or not, the gospel travels on the wheels of Money. A
financially impoverished congregation/membership will
determine to a large degree the heights to which the
ministry/organization can go. A financially strong and
healthy church on the other hand, will have no trouble
funding the mission and vision to which God has called its
pastor. When giving and stewardship are not forthcoming,
it is basically one of three reasons:
1.
IGNORANCE - Church members are ignorant of their
financial obligations to the church or ministry.
2.
DISOBEDIENCE - Church Members are simply
disobedient to the Word of God in their giving of
tithes and offerings.
3.
POVERTY - The people of God are ‘broke’ and in a
survival mode: no jobs/employment, meager/low
earnings, high individual/family credit card and other
kinds of debt, bad or poor financial planning and
management etc. and the list goes on...
When a financial shortage is imminent, the instinct
for self-preservation kicks in; the end result is lack of
giving.
SOLUTION
The solution is to financially equip and empower the
people of God with Biblical knowledge and insight
(spiritual), while providing them with Jobs, Business
Opportunities, Sound Financial Planning and Management
Skills, Job Interview Skills, ‘Dressing for Success’ courses
etc. (practical) This is a major component of CMI’s Mission
and Focus.
